Yes, I know. I have found some of that myself. However, it is old news. Most of the Nigerian oil is now what we call brown fields, meaning matured production. There haven't been any large discoveries there since 1998 which was Agbami.
Deep water was mostly bust and they are continuing to produce the shelf.
I have started my oil and gas career there and have lived in Lekki. I am still attached to our business unit there so my knowledge of Nigerian oil and gas is extensive.
Point to note, oil and gas is only one thing. I agree with your point of corruption and population pressure and lack of infrastructure there. That is indeed a big problem.
Also, the largest “remaining” oil resources (there is a difference between reserves and resources, we like to quote resources) is in Libya, followed by Algeria. Same will happen in the reserves as well. Nigeria is 3rd. Typically it is not good to trust publicly available data from these countries or any countries for that matter. Most oil companies run their own numbers and they are much more accurate.
