Last night I started a new sketchbook. That's right. Nothing nerve-racking for artists like deciding what to do with that first page! This sketchbook is a special one as I received it as a gift from my close friend, aishwarya@aishwarya. And she got it from PARIS as well. It's a Sennelier :)

So normally I don't use reference pictures to paint. I like to put some thought or story behind everything that I paint. Lately, I haven't been having any ideas on what to paint and it sometimes slows you down. Cause you simply want to paint. I had this picture in my screenshots from way before and decided to give it a try in my new sketchbook. And boy, watercolors were a bad decision.

The paper couldn't hold any water and to get the wet-on-wet gradient sky soon became impossible. I decided I wanted to finish it anyway. So I would paint and then wait for 15 minutes to let it dry before moving ahead and painting the next layer. It turned out okay.

It did break the fear of messing up cause I already did on the very first page. So if I see a silver lining there, maybe I try and learn more in this one cause now I'm fearless to keeping it nice and beautiful.

Thank you.
See you next time :)
