Between 1927 and 1932, Purple Gang ruled the underworld in Detroit. Known for their cruelty, their name comes from the color of rotten meat. The group led by Abe Bernstein is composed mostly of Jewish immigrants. They used to do armed robbery, extortion, and loan sharks.
