Hey again,
Let’s get one thing clear:
Diets suck.
But you know what’s even worse? Diets that don’t WORK.
You try to eat right, follow the strict rules, start exercising...and then, nothing.
You don’t feel better, you don’t look better, so...you just give up.
And then the spiral begins.
You feel depressed, so you start eating more (and the foods you know aren’t good for you).
You feel exhausted from what felt like starvation, so you have no energy to continue exercising.
You feel out of control, so you give in to your cravings and a lot of times, end up worse off than you were before.
In these moments, it’s easy to blame ourselves, and to feel like we “just didn’t want it enough.”
We look in the mirror, point a finger at our reflection, and say, “you’re a failure,” instead of what we should be saying:
“It’s not my fault.”
I know it’s hard to believe, but it ISN’T you fault. The fact is, losing weight is so difficult because your body is actually fighting it.
Here’s why:
At one time, food was scarce, which means our bodies are designed to store as much fat and calories as possible, which helped our ancestors...but us? Not so much.
And as if that “design flaw” doesn’t make things hard enough, there are plenty of complications that can make it feel practically impossible to stick to any type of healthy eating program.
Complications such as disease, fatigue, depression, sugar addictions, food cravings...all of these issues (which are out of your control) can force you into behaviors that make you gain weight.
I know that for me, it was never my “willpower” that failed me, but the things I can’t control, like my dysbiosis (digestive imbalances), adrenal fatigue, and powerful food cravings, which have made it very difficult for me to make healthy choices with food.
The one thing that has worked, however, is detoxing.
But before you start getting anxiety over the word “detox”, let me make something clear:
I am NOT talking about juicing, colon cleansing, or any other strange “detox” concoctions that leave you feeling weak and starving (and actually do more harm than good).
I’m talking about cutting out the bad, upping the good, and relying on more than just willpower to help you get to where you want to go.
I’m talking about naturally increasing your energy, helping your organs function better to support changes in your diet, and most importantly, making it easier to stick to your goals.
If nothing else, detoxing makes everything that comes later (like additional changes in diet, exercising, etc) feel less like torture, and more like a healthy part of your life.
If you’re feeling skeptical, here are a few ways you can tell if a detox is right for you:
You feel like crap.
You can’t lose weight and keep it off.
You can’t control your sugar/carb cravings (and may even have a food addiction!).
You’ve never detoxed before.
You need a “staycation” (or, a way to hit the “reset” button).
Any of these sound familiar to you?
For me personally, I struggled with #2 (not being able to lose and keep off weight) and #3 (feeling like I couldn’t control my cravings).
It wasn’t until I discovered detoxing (through Mark Hyman’s book, 10-Day Detox Diet) that I started to actually see (and maintain) real weight loss.
And it wasn’t JUST weight loss that I experienced.
I felt better.
My skin improved.
And I curbed my powerful food cravings, which were completely sabotaging my ability to lose (and keep off) weight.
And get this: I never ONCE starved myself, felt like I was undernourished, or did anything harmful to my body.
With Mark’s method, I completely avoided the usual torture and suffering associated with detoxing, and didn’t have to start some complicated, expensive “detox program” either.
Mark even breaks down his approach into 5 simple steps, which honestly, anyone can do (including people like me with diseases, food addictions, depression, and more):
Go cold turkey for 10 days
Power up with protein
Eat the right carbs (and lots of ‘em!)
Fight sugar with fat
Rely on friends, not willpower
...And that’s it. There’s no secret recipe or concoction, no expensive meal plan, and best of all, no suffering or pain.
Of course, this is a VERY simplified version of what I learned from Mark’s book.
To see long-term results, I would definitely recommend doing your research and learning all of the details that come with these 5 simple steps (like which are the “right carbs,” for example).
I know that without discovering his book, I would still be struggling, and most likely suffering, trying to lose weight with unhealthy, fad “detox diets” that simply don’t work.
The book will not only teach you the healthy ways of “resetting” your system (which will set you up for long-term wins!), Mark will also educate you on why you may have failed in the past, and what you can do to succeed in the future.
If you’re ready to increase your energy levels, kick powerful food cravings, and ultimately, lose (and keep off) the weight, get started by reading 10-Day Detox Diet.
It worked for me, and if any part of my story sounds familiar to you, I know it’ll work for you too!
Cheers,
CJ
P.S. I truly believe detoxing is the first step to achieving long-term weight loss success, so I’m going to send you some additional information I learned during my own journey, which I think will help you, too. Keep an eye out for it! :)
