This is a very level-headed, well-written post. Emotional discipline in everything is an important part of learning how to overcome problems in life. Alas, I suffer from emotional over-expression, like many of us do, I think. We of the artistic temperament, in particular, I find have to reign our emotions in. I imagine that's one of the reasons we express ourselves through music, art, writing, or any other creative endeavor.
The stockmarket is absolutely not for the emotionally undisciplined. Nor is crypto-currency trading, for that matter. You really have to believe in what you are holding, I think, to not sell when everybody else is selling. You need to be contrarian in many ways to go against the grain in order to make a profit from trading, and that takes emotional discipline.
As I said, I have a long way to go myself, because I tend to become emotional, especially tending towards anger, when things don't go according to plan. I've been reading a lot of Marcus Aurelius and Epictetus, both Stoic philosophers. Stoicism seems to be the online fad these days, but there really are excellent lessons to be learned from the Stoics, which we can all apply to our life.
What kind of music do you arrange, and what instrument/s do you play? I'm a guitarist, and enjoy composing music on the computer too. I've done a couple of symphonies and a few quartet pieces with Cakewalk Sonar and some other libraries, but haven't had a chance to do that in a while. It's something I should get back into.
Thanks for posting!
