Yes and I think there is an interesting distinction between having a sense of identity and allowing that identity to become a source of pride or superiority. There is nothing wrong with appreciating your heritage, culture or background, but when people begin to believe that something they had no control over makes them inherently better than someone else, that is where it becomes dangerous
