After my first article I am ready to start on the automation path and to do so I would like to introduce and describe some sensors used at industrial levels with which I have worked. I also want to introduce the term transducer as I consider it very important in the signal acquisition and conditioning stage. I thank in advance all those who have begun to read and support my articles.

The variable element is the physical quantities that we perceive as

temperature, pressure, speed, flow, level and any magnitude that can take different values over time. These magnitudes are used as input data to a system so that it can make decisions about certain actions to

make measurements to know our environment, when we wake up our eyes measure the amount of light and thus regulate and adapt our vision. In automatic processes, there is a need for elements that can capture these variables and convert them into easy to interpret signals, each sensor must be adapted to a specific type of magnitude. To continue using a simple example of the human body, if you want to perceive a sound your sensor element must be the ear, the eye is a sensor element but each magnitude requires a specific sensor adapted to pick up and transmit the received signal. In the case of the ear, a sound vibration is received which converts it into an electrical signal interpreted by the brain.

Transducers
It is a mystery to me that all efficient processors receive the signals in a single form (electricity), it is true that there are many signals and many ways to transmit them, but in the end there must be an element capable of converting the received signals into electronic signals. In the case of the ear or any sensory element in the human body, it will convert the received signal into an electrical signal that will be interpreted by the brain. It is as if there are two languages and a translator that communicates the processor with the variable. The element capable of converting a signal of one nature into another signal proportional to the first but of another nature is called a transducer, these transducers are installed in the devices they carry are intended to transmit the magnitude of the variable to a processor. In the process of data acquisition the transducer must be able to interpret the signal sent by the primary element, after receiving this signal it processes and conditions it in the form of an electronic signal to transmit it as data to the processor which interprets it to monitor and control the process.

Transducers are complex electronic circuit arrays that I couldn't explain because of the wide variety, the kept secrets of the manufacturers and the advanced level that would require extensive knowledge of electronics and system. But the summary is as described. Soon I will be presenting the devices that carry transducers which are called transmitters.
