# First time renting.... how did that go? - Splinter Stats Season 67 Report Card

What a season! It was definitely more intense than last season... and I nearly kicked myself out of Champ III again! Last season I finished with 3746 points and a rank of 189... and this season was 7 points less, and a rank of 239. Intense!
It's super amusing that literally only 2 players made it into Champ I this season... clearly Champ III and Champ II is where all the action is.

So this season I rented a maxed out Yodin Zaku.
I had been hoping to buy one once Chaos Legion was released and everyone put all their energy and finances into that set... but prices haven't dropped nearly as much as I was hoping and a maxed Yodin is still over $5k. So, instead I tried renting for the first real time... and it was... an experience.
I waited a couple of days after the last season to get a good price, and rented it for at least a couple of days after season 67 finished... but, alas, my rentals were cancelled at least twice. The last time was 2 days before the season end which meant the rental prices were at least 3 times higher than what I was paying.
I decided to not rent Yodin for the last few days.
Having your rental cancelled by the owner is a weird experience... you don't actually know until you look for the card and find it's not there. There's no warning or anything, and you have to go through your DEC Activity to see if there's a rental reimbursement.
Renting Yodin Zaku clearly didn't improve my rankings at all, but part of that is on me.
Oftentimes I would totally forget I had him, until I got destroyed by him and then I'd remember.
The other issue is that I don't have a lot of the cards that complement him so well. I've got a maxed Spark Pixies but that's really it. Most of my Fire Splinter maxed out cards are Melee for Malric (new band name?).
My performance was way worse this season. Last season my ratio was 1.04 (227/219).
I'm pretty sure it's because I was playing (and losing) a lot at the very start of the season.
I was after those sweet early season DEC wins... but it's honestly not an efficient use of my time.
(A win on the 2nd day of the season is probably about 4-5 times more than a usual win).
I think until I can field a decent collection to counter the current meta, I kinda need to chill on the first few days (week?) of each season.
I've been writing down CL builds that really destroy me so that when I'm ready to invest in CL cards (after the SPS airdrop) then I'll know what to buy.

A tiny bit more standard reward cards than last season and a tiny bit less gold foil cards than last season.
My legendary was Djinn Bilka which brought him up to Level 2 so I was rapt with that.
Also rapt to get 5 CL packs in my rewards. So awesome!

Last season I earnt 13247.458 DEC from rentals (without renting at all) so this isn't so bad!

Almost exactly the same SPS earned between last season and this season. Very consistent.
Slightly less vouchers, but that's understandable.
I'm not sure Waka Flocka card. When I initially saw the prices I was immediately "Nooooooope" but I could potentially swing it in time. Although, I do think it's extremely likely wealthy bot owners will grab them all before anyone really has a chance, I think I will have the SPS and vouchers ready and give it a shot.
It's not a card I super need, I've maxed a lot of the poison providers in the Death Splinter, but the opportunities the summoner could provide are pretty exciting, especially since Death is one of my sneakiest splinters and you can only cleanse at the front. He's going to be pretty hard to counter.
