In my jewelry-making class this Tuesday, we shared a very special moment. Since we celebrated Love and Friendship Day in Colombia over the weekend, we agreed to do a little sharing today. The idea was to prepare a fruit salad, so each of us brought something to add to it. Grapes, blueberries, bananas, papayas, strawberries, and mangoes appeared on the table鈥攁 true feast of colors and flavors!馃崌馃崜馃キ
The surprise came when one of my classmates took out some low-fat fresh cheese to add to the salad.I must admit I was surprised because it was the first time I had seen that combination. Amid laughter, they told me that in Colombia it is very common to add cheese to everything: juices, desserts, and, of course, fruit. I found it curious because, for me, that combination does not exist, or at least, it is not usual.馃馃崌馃崜

En mi clase de bisuter铆a de este martes, compartimos un momento muy especial. Como el fin de semana celebramos el D铆a del Amor y la Amistad en Colombia, para hoy nos pusimos de acuerdo para hacer un peque帽o compartir. La idea fue preparar una ensalada de frutas, as铆 que cada una llev贸 algo para armarla entre todas. Sobre la mesa aparecieron uvas, ar谩ndanos, cambur, lechosa, fresas y mango, 隆un verdadero fest铆n de colores y sabores!馃崌馃崜馃キ
La sorpresa lleg贸 cuando una de mis compa帽eras sac贸 un queso fresco descremado para a帽adirlo a la ensalada. Les cuento que me qued茅 sorprendida porque era la primera vez que ve铆a esa mezcla. Entre risas, me dijeron que en Colombia es muy com煤n ponerle queso a todo: a los jugos, a los postres y, por supuesto, tambi茅n a la fruta. Me pareci贸 curioso, porque para m铆 esa combinaci贸n no existe, o al menos, no es usual.馃馃崌馃崜
The cheese itself was tasty, light, and fresh, but I found the combination with fruit a little strange. Even so, I served myself a full portion and ate it as it was. Since arriving in this country, I have been determined not to close my mind to things that seem different and to try new flavors. The truth is that I enjoyed my fruit salad with cheese in the company of my jewelry-making friends.馃挅
It was a morning full of love and friendship that made me feel grateful and happy.
El queso en s铆 estaba sabroso, ligero y fresco, pero con la fruta la combinaci贸n me result贸 un poco extra帽a. Aun as铆, me serv铆 mi porci贸n completa y me la com铆 tal cual. Desde que llegu茅 a este pa铆s he estado dispuesta a no cerrarme a lo que me parece diferente y a probar nuevos sabores. La verdad es que disfrut茅 de mi ensalada de frutas con queso en compa帽铆a de mis amigas de bisuter铆a.馃挅
Fue una ma帽ana llena de cari帽o y amistad que me hicieron sentir agradecida y contenta.
