Granny blocker, my new knitting ally

Today I am back with you to tell you that today we celebrate grannys square day, so congratulations to those of us who love to knit them, and, I also want to tell you about a purchase that, in my opinion, has become a must-have accessory for those of us who love to knit the beautiful grannys.

I had been wanting to get a blocker for my granny squares for a long time, and I finally decided to buy one. I already told you in this post that I bought it on Temu, because honestly, it was the best price I found after comparing several sites. And I don't regret it, because it's been one of those purchases that are really worth it for those of us who love to knit and, above all, want our pieces to look neat.

Hoy regreso con ustedes para contarles que hoy celebramos el día del grannys square, así que felicidades para quienes nos encanta tejerlos, y, también quiero contarles sobre una compra que, en mi opinión, se ha vuelto un accesorio indispensable para quienes amamos tejer los hermosos grannys.

Desde hace tiempo tenía ganas de tener un bloqueador para mis grannys, y por fin me animé a comprarlo. Ya les había contado, en esta publicación, que lo compré en Temu, porque sinceramente fue el mejor precio que encontré después de comparar en varios sitios. Y no me arrepiento, porque ha sido una de esas compras que realmente valen la pena para quienes amamos tejer y, sobre todo, queremos que nuestras piezas queden prolijas.

The blocker is very practical: it comes with a board with strategically placed holes and several aluminum sticks. The idea is simple but effective: you stretch out your granny square, place it centered on the board, and secure it at the corners with the sticks. This helps the fabric settle, take shape, and stay perfectly square.

This is how I've been using it: once I finish a granny square, I dampen it and place it on the blocker. It's amazing how you can see the difference in just a few hours: the edges are aligned, the corners are defined, and the final result is much neater.

El bloqueador es muy práctico: trae una tabla con huequitos distribuidos de manera estratégica y varios palitos de aluminio. La idea es sencilla pero efectiva: estiras tu granny, lo colocas bien centrado en la tabla y lo sujetas en las esquinas con los palitos. Esto ayuda a que el tejido se asiente, tome su forma y se mantenga perfectamente cuadrado.

Yo lo he estado usando así: una vez que termino un granny, lo humedezco, y lo acomodo en el bloqueador. Es increíble cómo en pocas horas se nota la diferencia: los bordes se alinean, las esquinas quedan definidas y el resultado final es mucho más prolijo.

Before, when I didn't have it, I managed by putting weights on top of them, but they never all turned out the same. Now, thanks to this blocker, I can make sure that every granny square I make is the same size and shape. This makes it much easier when they are going to be joined together for larger projects, such as blankets, vests, or bags.

Now that all my granny squares are perfectly blocked, they're ready for the final project I have in mind for them. I'm excited to see how it will all come together, with each piece fitting perfectly and showing off all the love I've put into this work.

Antes, cuando no lo tenía, me las ingeniaba poniéndoles peso encima, pero nunca quedaban todos iguales. Ahora, gracias a este bloqueador, puedo asegurarme de que cada granny que hago tenga la misma medida y forma. Esto facilita muchísimo cuando se van a unir para proyectos más grandes, como mantas, chalecos o bolsos.

Ahora que ya tengo todos mis grannys perfectamente bloqueados, están listos para el proyecto final que tengo en mente con ellos. Me emociona pensar en cómo se verá todo armado, con cada pieza encajando a la perfección y luciendo todo el cariño que he puesto en este trabajo.
