This week, the ruleset we have to introduce for this challenge is the Reverse Speed ruleset, which changes the order in which monsters will attack. Now, faster units will attack last and slower units will attack first. Attack Accuracy based on speed will be reversed, so slower units will have a better chance of evading attacks.
Therefore, monsters with high speed should be avoided , as well as summoners that grant speed like Kitty, or slow down the speed of enemy units like Quix.
These abilities will not be as effective in the Reverse Speed ruleset:
Bloodlust
When a monster with this ability defeats a unit, it will gain +1 to all of its stats, including speed.
Enrage
Monsters with this ability, when not at full health, gain an additional 50% melee attack and speed.
Last Stand
Monsters with this ability, when alone in the team, will gain stats multiplied by x1.5 rounded up.
Martyr
Monsters with this ability, when defeated, adjacent allies will gain +1 to all stats.
Also to be avoided are the Slow ability, which reduces the speed of enemy monsters by 1, and the Swiftness ability, which increases the speed of allied monsters.
Now let's analyze a battle tournament, in the Diamond League, with only alpha and beta cards allowed. Xadragon VS Byz8tine!
In this battle, in addition to the Reverse Speed ruleset, all monsters when hit by magic damage, will deal half damage back to the attacker due to the Counterspell ruleset. And monsters will lose the sneak, snipe and opportunity abilities due to the Fog of War ruleset.
The first player, Xadragon, chooses Archmage Arius as his summoner, the only summoner that boosts all attack types (melee, ranged, and magic) by 1. And it also allows the player to use dragon cards.
Gelatinous Cube, a card with a lot of hit points, it may not have any attacks, but it is resistant to magic attacks by 50%. And will restore itself a third max of its health each turn. And lastly, every time any unit dies, Cube will gain +1 max health.
Gold Dragon, in the second position, like many dragons can also Fly. Like its ally Cube, this dragon will restore its health each turn. And its attacks have Blast, which deals half damage (rounded up) to units adjacent to the enemy target.
In the third position, Serpentine Mystic, who when attacking has a 50% chance to apply Affliction to the enemy target, causing them to be unable to be healed by any method. And passively while Serpentine is alive it will Slow the enemy units by 1, which is not good in the reverse speed.
Crustacean King in the fourth position, this crab will heal the first position ally for a third max of its health each turn. And passively grants 2 armor to all friendly units.
Naga Windmaster in the fifth position, good against ranged units as it reduces the ranged attack of enemy units by 1. The attacks of Naga destroy the armor of the enemy units, and separately have a 50% chance to apply Poison to the enemy, causing the enemy to lose -2 health at the start of each round.
And in the last position Cyclops, who takes reduced damage from melee and ranged attacks by 50% (rounded up) due to its Shield ability. Additionally, Cyclops' attacks have a 50% chance to Stun the enemy, causing them to be immobilized on the next turn, preventing them from making any movement.
The second player, Byz8tine, plays Selenia Sky as his summoner, who increases the attack of friendly ranged units by 1.
Lord Arianthus in the first position, who takes 50% reduced damage from all types of attacks. And it also has the Magic Reflect, which is already provided by the Counterspell ruleset. If Arianthus is hit by a melee attack, it will deal 2 melee damage to the attacker.
Frost Giant in the second position, who has the Shield ability. Passively, Frost will slow the speed of enemies by 1, which is not good in this ruleset. And if this card manages to destroy an enemy unit, perform another attack on the next enemy unit. And lastly, this card's attacks have a 50% chance to Stun the enemy unit.
From the third and sixth position, the player plays with 4 of the same monsters as his opponent but in different positions. And with the difference that Naga and Crustacean are only at level 6.
Round 1:
Some monsters were damaged, but none were defeated in this round. Naga Windmaster (Xadragon) applies poison to Lord Arianthus.
Round 2: Crustacean King (Xadragon) destroys ☠️Lord Arianthus. Gold Dragon (Byz8tine) defeats enemy ☠️Gold Dragon (Xadragon) with the Blast ability.
Round 3:
☠️Frost Giant is destroyed by ☠️Serpentine Mystic, who is also defeated by the Magic Reflect.
Round 4:
No one was defeated in this round. Cyclops (Xadragon) stun enemy Gold Dragon.
In this battle, both players used a similar lineup, and they were mostly low speed monsters, which is great for the Reverse speed ruleset. Both player also used a unit with the Slow ability, so there wasn't much difference in terms of attack order.
Even though Gold Dragon on Team Byz8tine managed to destroy the enemy dragon first, the Cube of Xadragon was still alive and resisted the enemy attacks very well. While their allies slowly destroyed the enemy units, winning the battle.
MVP
Gelatinous Cube, for resisting all attacks from enemy units since round 1
