This week, the ruleset we have to introduce for this challenge is the Rise of the Commons ruleset, which only allows common and rare monsters to enter the battlefield. This condition does not apply to summoners.
It's a simple ruleset, and there are not tricks here, other than remembering the epics and legendaries monsters will be banned, like Quora and Djinn Oshannus, and taking advantage of that.
Fun fact: There are no monsters with the Resurrect ability that are common or rare, they are all legendary.
And there is only one monster with the Weapons Training ability that can be played in this ruleset: Moxian rebel (rare)
Now let's analyze a battle tournament, Wild mode, in the Gold League, with all cards allowed. Ula.Ocean VS Akomoajong!
In this battle, in addition to the Rise of the Commons ruleset, only magic monsters will be able to enter the battlefield due to the Wands Out ruleset. Lastly, all summoners will be silenced, meaning their abilities will be negated.
The first player, Ula.Ocean, chooses Brewmaster Abraxas, who is a dual element summoner, allowing the player to use both fire and earth cards. This dual element summoner is great for the Silenced Summoners ruleset, as it doesn't affect that mechanic.
Prismatic Energy, a great card against magic attacks. First, this card will take reduced damage from magic attacks by 50%. And if hit by a magic attack, it will deal half the damage (rounded up) back to the attacker.
Goblin Psychic, it's very slow, but it has good abilities that make up for it. Goblin will heal the ally in the first position for a third max of their health, each turn. Additionally, if this card attacks it has a 50% chance to apply Affliction to the target, which makes it unable to be healed. And finally, it will passively reduced the magic attack of enemy units by 1.
Mushroom Seer, in the third position, who like its previous ally will reduce the magic attack of enemy units by 1. And when this card attacks, it has a 50% chance to apply Poison to the enemy, making them lose -2 health at the start of each round.
Wood Nymph, who will restore the frontline ally for a third max of their health each turn. And will passively increase the health of all friendly units by 1.
Venari Spellsmith, who will dispel the enemy it attacks, removing any positive effects on that unit. And while alive, the damage done by Magic Reflect, Return Fire, Thorns, Corrosive Ward and Retaliate will be increased by 1.
In the last position, Suidae Shaman, who has the Recharge ability, meaning Shaman attacks every two rounds but does 3x damage. And it deals double damage to monsters that cost 10 or more mana due to its Giant Killer ability.
The second player, Akomoajong, chooses Selenia Sky as his summoner, which allows the player to use dragon cards, and an available element of their choice.
Like his opponent, Akomoajong also plays with 4 of the same enemy units, but in different positions. And he plays with two different magic units.
In the second position, Ujurak Mystic, which causes adjacent units to take 1 less damage from attackers with Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity. Additionally, all units take half damage from ambushes as long as there is a Lookout unit on the team.
And in the last position, Mycelic Slipspawn, who will force enemy rear units that can attack to attack it due to its Taunt ability. If Mycelic is attacked with a power of 5 or higher, it will only take 1 damage instead.
Round 1:
Some monsters were damage but none were defeated in this round.
Mushroom Seer (Akomoajong), applies Poison to Enemy Prismatic energy.
Round 2: โ ๏ธMycelic Slipspawn is destroyed by Enemy Prismatic Energy's Magic Reflect ability.
Mushroom Seer (Ula.Ocean), applies Poison to Enemy Prismatic energy. โ ๏ธWood Nymph (Akomoajong), is destroyed by Prismatic Energy's Magic Reflect ability.
Round 3: โ ๏ธMushroom Seer (Akomoajong) is destroyed by Prismatic Energy's Magic Reflect ability.
Round 4: โ ๏ธGoblin Psychic (Akomoajong) is destroyed by Prismatic Energy's Magic Reflect ability.
Round 5: โ ๏ธPrismatic Energy (Akomoajong) is eliminated by the Poison effect. โ ๏ธUjurak Mystic is destroyed by Prismatic Energy's Magic Reflect ability.
This battle, the attack of all magic monsters on both teams, was reduced to only 1, because both players had two units with the Silence ability, which reduces the enemy unit's magic attack by 1, and it can be stacked. Therefore, the magic attack of the magic monsters on the field was reduced to 2.
Since the monsters only had 1 magic damage, both Prismatic Energies cannot be damage by them, due to their Void ability, which reduces the damage taken from magic attacks. So, both Goblin Psychic's Poison and Affliction effects were the key to winning this battle, that way the Prismatic Energies would take 2 damage, and couldn't be healed.
The Magic Reflect of Prismatic Energies ability, was also a problem and more so on Ula.Ocean's side, as it has Amplification, increasing its damage by 1. Due to the use of Mycelic Slipspawn on Akomoajong's side, the enemy rear units did not take damage from Prismatic until they defeated Mycelic, which was great for Ula.Ocean's units.
And that's why Akomoajong's magic rear units were defeated first, by the Magic Reflect of Prismatic, defeating them all. And after that, its Prismatic was also defeated by the Poison of Goblin. In this way Ula.Ocean won the battle without lose any units.
MVP
Prismatic Energy (Ula.Ocean), with a 5 kill streak due to its Magic Reflect.
