Hello everyone, this time I will be participating in this Splinterlands Challenge, where I will show you a battle in the modern ranked league using non-melee units.

First, let's talk a little bit about Avarisdeus, a ranged rebellion unit with a cost of 4 mana, and one of the units I will using this battle. By the way, I love its design.

Avarisdeus's attacks due to its Scattershot ability are randoms against enemies.

Can attack twice per round thanks to the Double Strike ability.

And at level 4, it gains the Flying ability, giving it an extra 25% chance to evade attacks from non-flying melee and ranged units.

I don't usually use this creature very often since it's not very good in my experience on its own, I only summon it when it's really necessary, for example, with the Cryptic summoner it's really good, since I can give it the Expose and Poison ability. Since it can attack twice and its attacks are randoms, it has twice the chance to apply those effects on different enemy units.

You can use summoners as I mentioned before to give it other abilities, and make the most of its Double Strike ability, such as:

Nidhoggr, unlike the other two summoners, does not grant the Poison ability, but can grant Avarisdeus the Blast and Deathblow (which deals 50% damage to units adjacent to the target unit, and double damage if the enemy is the only remaining enemy unit) or +2 speed and Execute (after attacking, perform another attack if the target unit has 2 or less HP).

BATTLE

In this battle there are three active rulestes: Aim True, all units will have 100% accuracy in their attacks. Keep Your Distance, so melee units are prohibited from entering the battlefield. And Blood and Sunder, all units will have the Corrosive Ward ability (-2 to attacker's armor and max armor when hit by a melee attack).

This time I choose the summoner, Cryptic, so I can summon water and death elemen units, and give the Poison and Execute ability to two of my units. It will also reduce the speed of enemy units by 1.

In the first position I decide to choose Baakjira, very good against magic units taking 50% less damage from those attacks. Also, it grants +1 health to all allies and reduces the speed of enemies by 1. Additionally, it can heal itself for one third of its max health each round.

Then Djinn Oshannus, also has the Void ability like Baakjira, and attacks against him of 5 damage or more instead deal 1 damage. At his side, Anasth Soothsayer to heal and cleanse my frontline units each round.

Baron Fyatt in the fourth position, has random attacks, and will reduce the target unit's attack by 50% (rounded down). Additionally, it will attack in the Ambush round, before the first round.

The demon Avarisdeus in the fifth position. And in the last position, Wave Brood, drawing the attention of enemy backline attacks towards it due to its Taunt ability. And like her first two allies it take less damage from magic attacks. Additionally, it has the Return Fire ability.

In the Ambush round, Goblin Psychic is poisoned by Baron Fyatt's attack. In the first round, Doctor Blight poisons my Wave Brood unit. And Doctor Blight is poisoned by Baron in the second round.

In the third round, Avarisdeus poisons Mycelic Slipspawn. In the fourth round, Wave Brood and enemy Doctor Blight are defeated due to the Poison effect.

In the fifth round, some units were damaged, but none were defeated.. In the sixth round, two units are poisoned by Avarisdeus: the enemy Queen Mycelia and Regal Peryton.

In the seventh round, Queen Mycelia is defeated by poison, and Goblin Psychic is defeated by Avarisdeus.

In the eight round, Regal Peryton is another victim of the poison, being defeated. Djinn Oshannus defeats Mycelic Slipspawn. And Avarisdeus applies poison to enemy Geinek.

In the ninth and final round, Nalara Geinek without his Void ability due to the Expose ability removing it in previous rounds, is defeated by the magic attack of Baron Fyatt, ending the battle.

Avarisdeus performed very well in this battle, poisoning 4 enemy units thanks to Cryptic. And together with Baron Fyatt, they were able to remove the Void ability from all enemy units thanks to Cryptic once again, granting them the Expose ability.

My opponent played only magic units , so since my Baakjira was resistent to those attacks and Anasth Soothsayer was cleaning and healing it each round, it was able to survive the battle. Only my Wave Brood unit was defeated in this battle, my other five units won the battle with full health.
