ChatGPT Vs Bard AI.

In a race to rule the Internet, who shall win? Google or Microsoft?

The success of Microsoft-backed OpenAI software - ChatGPT has been incredible. In two months, it had reached One Hundred Million users and still expanding at a fast pace. This friendly AI has been widely embraced by users all over the world for research purposes due to its ability to generate human-like responses to a wide range of questions and prompts. I was stoked when I used it for minor research last year after their lunch. I remember thinking it had a lot of potentials which could only improve over time.

Here is the interesting part- Google has decided to launch a rival AI-powered chatbot called BARD. I would say it took them long enough. Google in its usual manner will always try to exert dominance in the world of the internet. These two big techs appear to be in an AI arms race and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds for both corporations.
In this dance of giants, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said in an interview, that Google would want to come and show that they can dance and he wants people to know that Microsoft made them dance. Petty much.

What do we know about Bard AI?

According to Google boss Sundar Pichai: “Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the world's knowledge with the power, intelligence, and creativity of our large language models." It is built on Google's existing language model LaMDA and just like ChatGPT, it is designed with the ability to filter complex information, offering a more nuanced and specific answer to complex questions.

It will utilize information drawn from the web to provide quality responses. However, there has not been any official information from Google regarding what Bard can and can’t do. Bard will be integrated to augment google search hence when you use it to search for information, you will receive short specific answers to factual questions. It is currently only available to trusted testers.

What are the chances of success for Google's AI?

I do not doubt that Google will pull this off. However, it appears they still need to figure out the kinks and details of this model. It was recently caught in a mistake, giving misinformation a the demonstration video released. Now, that was lame and could have been avoided with a simple confirmation check. I guess they couldn't wait to get it out there, considering they are already late to the party.
This was a costly mistake as it cost them a Hundred Billion Dollars off shares.

There are significant differences in the hardware configurations that could have an impact on the success of Bard over ChatGPT. Google's Bard uses Tensor Processing Units(TPUs) while ChatGPT uses Graphics Processing Units(GPUs). These can impact the efficiency and performance of these chatbots when it comes to matrix multiplications. TPUs are more efficient than GPUs because TPUs are designed utilizing matrix operations at a lower cost which is important for learning algorithms of a chatbot. This is an advantage that Bard Ai has over ChatGPT.

In two months, ChatGPT reached about 100 million users and is still expanding. Google Bard could get more users, judging from the installed base that already exists on Google search platforms and its integration with the regular Google search.

I am rooting for ChatGPT to continue to deliver and also can't wait to use Bard Ai. The use of Artificial Intelligence for information optimization is quite fascinating.
I have more information to share on this topic and will do so in a subsequent article.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend. ❤️
