Good evening brethren. Trust we are all doing great. Am Sister Atuma Hope and am doing this post to share my lessons from the mass indoctrination Day 4.
From the teaching,we learnt according to Philippians 4:6 that prayer is making known our request and supplication to God. Prayer is a request and not storytelling, for it is not Biblical to repeat our words over and over again as some do. when praying (Acts 1: 24 - 26), we are to pray with Thanksgiving knowing that as a true believer God has heard our prayers ( Mark11:24). According to the book of 2Tim.1:3 we are to pray day and night ie prayer isn't restricted to any particular time of the day and number of times to pray. A prayer should be simple, there is no need to repeat our prayers and make them very long as in the book of Ecc. 5:2,God is in heaven and he isn't deaf not to hear hence our words should be few. Matt. 6:7-8, our prayers should be breef, precise, specific and not repetitively.
We also learnt in the book of 2Tim.2:22, one who calls on God should do it with a pure heart, for God's ears are open to the righteous and closed to those who do evil as in the book of 1 Peter 3 :10 - 12 and in Proverbs 15 :8 God is delighted with the prayers of the uprights. Therefore it is very necessary that our hearts or Conscience is void of offense towards God and toward man ( Acts 24 : 16).
According to the book of Matthew 15 : 19 - 20, we also saw there that murderers, adulteress, fornicators, thefts, false witness ,blasphemies; that these are the things that can defile the heart of a man and God can see the heart of a man as in Jere. 17 : 10. God does not hear the prayers of sinners or one whose heart is defiled. ( 1 Peter 3:7, John 9: 31). Therefore for us to pray as according to 2Chro. 7: 14 our hearts must be purify first, we obey God's Words and take away evil from our hearts and depart from iniquities (Gala 5:19 - 21). The Word of God can purify ou heart, but we must have to know it/ study it, obey or keep it, accept the Word of God and receive it for our hearts to be purify ( John 15 : 3, Psalms 119 : 11). We should keep our tree (our heart) clean if we are going to pray as in Matt. 12:33, for if our hearts are cleans together with a good or truthful tongue and we open our mouth with wisdom for the tongue can no man tame. (James 3 :6 - 10). It's actually wrong to use same mouth we use to curse,to use to still pray to God. The tongue can only be tamed by the word of God. We are to alter our words with wisdom.
