We got a stationary phone very late. I think I was around 16 years old when we finally got it in our village. This might sound like I am 90 years old and living in the middle of nowhere. But I will not get into this since I will derail from my purpose.
I remember we had a notebook and a pen next to it and often while having a conversation I would doodle away. Hearts, stars, squares or angry lines depending on my mood and who was on the other side of the line.
We talked about this in chat the other day and it got me thinking … I do not doodle no more. Or do I? I don’t carry a pen and paper with me no more. The only time I do have the means is during our work meetings. I had to talk with my boss today. So while I was there I went through my notebooks.
This is a small collage of it:
I know my co-worker draws squares. Squares upon squares and some more squares and she fills them up with lines … another one draws arrows. But what does this mean? (Besides not being focused on our meetings.) Apparently doing it without thinking they can be very revealing.
So out of all the scribbles I will focus on this one. I remember doing it during one afternoon meeting. I started with the plastic cup of water, which was placed on the table at that time, so I guess it was a fine model for me. I added the water going over the brim and so on.
Most of the lines and strokes are curved, showing me as being flexible, emotional and imaginative. Circles, squares and triangles show needs and motivation. Basically saying I am needy? Practical people show the tendency to draw square objects, like doors, windows, block letters, books, etc. (note to self: draw more square and pointy doodles). Since the object is quite large that supposedly indicates me as being outgoing and having a busy life … My heavily shaded areas showcase a possible depression and I will not analyze the color, since the only pen I had available was black. But if you care to know it means I’m disciplined, serious and gloomy.
Or … you could just look at the whole and assume I was drowning from boredom.
Do you doodle? Don’t be shy … post it in the comment ... let’s analyze your possible depression and gloomy side together.
