i almost dismissed this when i read your post, especially as i currently only have a mobile connection with limited bandwidth. But i decided to read about it on their website, reading this page at the moment https://www.getgrass.io/blog/grass-building-a-more-ethical-network and i like what i see so far. i'll dive deeper & see what their governance model is. Perhaps i can be a user for now until i get broadband, or perhaps i won't need to get broadband if i can recruit some neighbors who have it. i'll let you know my findings.

Update
Well, i signed up and installed the extension to test it. But, this is my issue:

i use Proton VPN and for good opsec i have it on at all times when i have a browser open, with permanent kill switch to disable internet if the VPN disconnects for any reason.
In settings in the VPN there's a split tunnelling option, so i could probably exclude the extension, but cannot use that option with kill switch on.

Or maybe it is possible to use the extension with VPN, but because i'm using mobile network the quality is low (it is quite slow).
