Busy.org, a social network that uses the Steem blockchain, is getting a massive upgrade soon, where the social network will integrate apps and e-commerce, so that people on Steem can share and exchange products on top of the rewards from likes and resteems.
Steemit solves the problem that other social networks have by being effectively uncensorable* and decentralized, so that no authority can shut down or delete your content if you speak too loudly about the truth.
D.Tube replaces YouTube for the same reasons, and are actively working to solve the problem of bad signals and old videos being removed on a decentralized server.
The Price is in a current formation right now and the time to accumulate may be soon. When the next crypto boom happens and the dollar collapses in value, Steem under $1 will be a thing of the past, like 25 cents for a hamburger.
I hope that busy.org fixes the terrible Steem search system. If Steem is to take over the centralized sources of social media as a viable product, people have to be able to search for recent posts and users based on descriptors.
* I still think downvote bots can be used to censor people, however accounts can't be deleted nor suspended due to truth-speaking.
