Here’s my entry for the Splinterlands Art contest. This week I decided to draw “Magi Sphinx”.
It’s one of my favorite cards, love everything about her. Her hair, skin color, and style, all look amazing together. She looks so furious in the card so I wanted to draw a portrait of her in which she looks scary yet gives off power. I managed to sketch what was on my mind.
Her portrait gives off some kind of confidence which was the thing I wanted it to show.
Some ideas come to me before sketching and some do as the drawing progresses. At first, I was determined to draw a confident woman then as the drawing progressed I thought about drawing her her wings in front of her as she’s covering herself with her wings. Then I drew the flames in the background with a light brush. I recently found where I should use it. It has a good effect.
I colored her skin, hair, and wings as the original card but changed the earrings' color to match the other colors and it turned out to be a good idea.
For me, the most satisfying part of every drawing is coloring and giving depth to it.
I spent a lot of time on her face working on the details in her eyes and on her lips. I’m not used to digital painting yet but I tried my best to add as many details as I could to make it look more realistic.
After coloring her hair and shading I added some strings with a light pen and then lowered the opacity for a better result.
