Many people consider Diablo 2 to be the prime example of how an 'ARPG' should be. Even if many of the concepts seem 'dated' it is still a solid game to play solo or with friends. The game doesn't really end after the story finishes as there are harder difficulty options that unlock along with several hidden challenges that require specific items. It is still popular to this day and many of my friends would prefer going back to Diablo 2 rather than play Diablo 4 but fatigue of playing the same game for over 20+ years has set in.
