For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin: that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
2Corinthians 5:21
The incarnation of our Lord Jesus did a tremendous work in our lives as believers of the cross. We were people alienated from God and knew nothing about the Glorious God. Our lives was full sin and total darkness. All the imagination of our hearts were evil.
The genesis of our sinfulness is the disobedience of Adam in the garden of Eden. As the Bible says in Romans 5:18 that by the offence one judgement came upon all men to condemnation......... So the mistake of one person resulted in many receiving the nature of the devil, hence, absolute sinners.
We were filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, malaciousness: being full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malagnity, whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil, without understanding and unmerciful. [Romans 1:29]
But what does our opening scripture says : Christ took our place of sin in other to give us His. In John 1:29, John the Baptist spoke of Christ as the Lamb of God who take away our sin. The root of sin was uprooted and eradicated on the Cross of Christ. All the above mentioned characters and attitudes were dealt with by Christ.
The cross was a means of the obliteration of our sins. Jesus through His death abolished sin and made a public shame of it. Jesus' coming was to be identified with man and substitute his righteousness for our sin. Thank God His death and resurrection accomplished this and brought us to kingdom of the son of his love.
JESUS TOOK YOUR PLACE OF SIN AND GAVE YOU HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.
