Today, due to repair work, electricity was cut off for the whole day. And since the weather is great I took up garden deeds, which is always a lot.
The first thing on my turn was the fight against hogweed. I have been fighting this malicious weed since the moment I bought the land.
Hogweed is difficult to remove, but this is not the biggest problem, the worst thing is that its juice causes chemical burns.
A lawn infected with hogweed cannot be mowed without protective equipment, and even with them, it happens that it gets on the neck or hands.
I have cleared part of the plot, but this weed feels great behind the fence on the ownerless territory.
Therefore, armed with a saw, I went to fight. In a couple of hours, we managed to mow down almost all the thickets.
The most important thing was to cut down and collect the inflorescences. If you let the seeds of this plant ripen, it will be impossible to get rid of them.
The seeds have a germination of up to 15 years, the roots lie at a depth of up to 1.5 meters, so you definitely need to have time. The remains of stems and foliage need to be treated with a powerful herbicide, but I missed this moment, since I do not have such funds.
After the hogweed, I took up potatoes. It's a little late, of course, but a few days ago, my neighbor handed me a whole box of sprouted potatoes and several large bean pods. I had to plant :)
I planted the potatoes in the beds along with the beans. One potato and one bean.
And finally, I weeded a bed of melissa, oregano and strawberries from weeds. At the same time, I made a small fence around the garden so that the chickens would not eat berries.
On this my strength ended. I'll do the rest tomorrow.
