Stricter gun control didn't happen after the Las Vegas shooting, and it probably won't happen here (although Trump seems to be on board with the proposed idiotic bump stock regulations...). Even in the unlikely scenario that they do attempt a nationwide crackdown on guns though, that is going to be one monumentally difficult task to attempt. The government fears its armed citizenry, and that's the way it should be.
