Hi, I am Arveno and i am from Surabaya city Indonesia. I got this community from @macchiata after we met. And when i told her that i love aquascaping, she told me to sharing my tips and trick for taking care of many fish that i know. FYI, i am aquascaper from 2013 - 2018. I very love fish actually. Because only fish that does not have fur since i am allergic to fur. I can sneeze all day long if close enough with furry animals. And yeah taking care of fish is not hard. It is easy as long as the parameter on the water is fulfilled.
In this content i want to sharing one of my favourite freshwater fish that maybe not many people know about this fish. Not too rare but maybe just uncommon on fish market.
Let me introduce to you guys the fish that commonly called Galaxy Rasbora or Celestial Pearl.
Galaxy Rasbora or Danio Margaritatus (latin name) is freshwater fish species. why this fish called Galaxy?? because in their body having mini dot that really bright yellow coloured and for the body it kinda grey to black. The more pitch black the body, the healthier the fish. So, when you just adding lamp from above and all room lights shuts off. You can see stars in your aquarium. This fish usually used as complement in Aquascape design. Because the effect of this Galaxy effect from this Rasbora can give glamour when we take a picture.
This fish usually schooling fish that means they are going together in the aquarium. So, it is better if we adding this fish around 20-30 fish into our aquarium that have length around 60 cm wide. And for taking care of this fish is really easy. I will give you some tips and trick to taking care this fish.
Tips
Rasbora Galaxy is really small fish, maybe just around 2-5 cm only. They cannot growing big. So, you need preparing fish food that really small and delicated. Or you can give them fresh silk worm. Not too much and periodically. The most effective if you have 30 fish on 60 cm wide long, you need give around half mini scoop of fish food and give it once in a week or you still can give them twice maximum in a week.
Rasbora Galaxy love with aquatic plant especially on grass or we as aquascaper usually called hairgrass. So they can running around on the grass. And with planting more plant inside your tank, it will generate more oxigen when the light on. And more oxigen that means your fish will be healthy.
Rasbora Galaxy can live on 24-28 degree Celcius temperature. Sometimes after adapting they can live on 22 degree Celcius for temperature. Usually many scaper will maintain their tank temperature below 26 Degree Celcius to keep the plant healthy and make the tank free from Algae bloom. And if the temperature low usually the oxygen content on the water is tends to be low. Thats why plant will balancing the Oxigen level in aquarium.
Rasbora is easy to breed. They can breed and mating when you having so much plant in your tank. They will make bubble nest under the leaf and starting mating there. You can differentiate the male and femal by looking at the belly. Usually the female have big belly. And the colour of the body is more pale. And the brighter colour are the male.
Rasbora Galaxy is Anti Social fish. This fish cannot familliar to another species fish even though just Cardinal Tetra or Neon Tetra. Rasbora Galaxy will starting to mark their territory and started to streesed itself and make them more aggresif. And the more agresif the fast this fish died because running out oxigen on their gills.
