My Skodas alloy wheels needed a refurb as the damage sustained from the little "incident" my mother had with the car and a wall.
The passenger side alloy was the worst alloy out of them all, with massive chunks of paint missing and deep scratches that I honestly thought I would have to buy a new wheel.
I got to work sanding down the alloy with some 40 grit sandpaper, I rubbed and rubbed but didn't seem to be getting anywhere.
My neighbor came out with a flap wheel attachment for my drill which took the scratches down to nothing in a matter of minutes.
when the largest of scratchers were just about gone I then went to work with some 160 grit wet and dry sandpaper to smooth out all the scratches the 40 grit had made, this didn't take long and was smooth in a matter of minutes.
I had to sand down the back of the alloy wheel too as there was bubbling under the pain, this was a little time consuming but I got it as smooth as I possibly could.
Once the alloys were smooth it was then time to put masking tape and paper around the wheel to stop the spray paint getting on the wheel.
Once the wheel were masked up, I then sprayed self-etching primer, I did this in the comfort of my little man cave with the heater on.
Once the undercoat was dry it was time for two coats of color and two coats of clear coat. the difference between the wheels is amazing.
