I'm so glad I checked back to see the results @dannewton, I'm not too far from you I live on the boundary between Rotherham and Sheffield, and We don't get to see hummingbird moths like this, you are so lucky. I did see a cinnabar moth in my garden today which was nice, I also saw a painted lady which was the first for me since last year.
I know why it is, there has been a lot of change around our way more buildings going up, they are changing the main road that stretches between Rotherham and Sheffield so that has taken some of the land away. plus like you said earlier windy too.
I did think that my buddleia would have brought more to the garden since it is a fair size now but there has hardly been a sight.
