Hello friends,
It’s funny that in my program for kids it was scheduled to draw a Skull. Only today I realized that kids were getting goodie bags for Halloween and tomorrow there is no school.
My daughter was really surprised that I had this drawing sitting on the easel when she came home with all kinds of spooky toys including tiny skull:-)
The skull was a critical part of the learning process at the Repin academy. All Russian art schools teach how to draw it.
Since I never went to an official art school and I had 3-year course of academic drawing at university I decided to try drawing the skull myself. Then I was going to teach my students.
I’m very happy with the result. I know I could do more of shading and work for hours on it, but I don’t have enough time. Kids come only for one hour lesson, and in an hour it’s impossible to make a finished drawing, so I teach the basics of constructing the shapes or figures, but we never have enough time for shading. I think it’s not a big problem because when kids grow and will be able to concentrate for 2-3 hours we can try to draw a completely finished masterpiece but for right now we do more scaling and constructing. It’s very challenging for kids under 10 years old.
