Artist Statement
Years ago I received an old book titled: “Kinderland” from my mother in law. Inside this book numerous old and probably ‘outdated’ Afrikaans stories are printed on lovely thick paper.
I used this book to create a series which I like to refer to as “Bosch in Afrikaans”.
As a starting point I erased some words on these pages and inserted/attached an embroidered piece of rubber (inner tube). These embroideries were inspired by the ‘monsters’ found in the works of Hieronymus Bosch.
