Always worth the effort and maybe an engine flush every 4/5 years would be good too, although some of those treatments are far too aggressive. Sometimes it's the grime inside the engine that holds it together 🤣
Your DPF is there to mop up NOx gasses. It has a catalytic converter inside there too, usually, which helps capture the carbon and soot. As long as you drive long distance on a regular basis they won't cause too much trouble but constant short runs is what kills them. Bloody expensive things to replace too 😬 I've got a draft post half written about DPFs and hopefully I'll get around to posting it.
