I wonder if it would be true to say that most people have had that moment where they could have taken the self-defeating road to an emotional ceasefire through alcohol, but instead chose to put that possibility off for a while, reserving it as an alternative for when things really become unbearable...even if they qualify as unbearable right at that moment.
The truth is, when I've had to make such a fight, even to stop smoking, I have treferred to rely on my own aggressive nature. I refuse to allow that anyone has the right to dictate to me - and so much less if it is not a someone but a something.
I'll admit though that I was lucky, having someone to egg me on and be an irritant, like Bert, would have driven me to drink or to lighting up again, just to prove him wrong.
With me, it was more a case of my proving wrong those who did not think I would make it.
After this comment, I will now just HAVE to read the next episode :))
