Beautiful - and thank you.

Many years ago, I went to North Greece and was taken up a mountain by foot. I think the trail was mostly for donkey traffic.

As we were walking, I saw a tiny bush with something red. I stopped, crouched and gently raised the leafs and saw a tiny strawberry.

The man guiding me told me to eat it. I did and it was a strawberry...but by far the tastiest one I had ever eaten.

The old man told me these strawberries only grow, far up in the mountains.

Years later, I was in Italy for business and the people I was meeting took me to a wonderful restaurant...kilometres outside of Savonna, on a cliff overlooking the sea. It is the kind of place where there is never a free table if you are not known.

The meal was delicious and at the end, without asking me, they brought me dessert, which had three different kind of tiny berries. the one was an exact replica of the strawberry I had eaten in the mountains of Greece, with a complimentary tiny glass of a golden Italian liqueur.

I told them about the Greek mountain strawberry and they called the owner. When he was told, he informed me that all three kinds of berries in my dessert only grow in the wild, up in the mountains and are very difficult to get hold of.

I always marvelled at the coincidence of my finding something so rare in two different parts of the world.

Now...if I could just get to taste them one more time... )
