Do you realize I am 56 years old and have NEVER made my own crackers?? And yep - here in Asia they are swathed in layer after layer of plastic (due to the humidity). This IS one thing I'm going to try!! Also a FAB way to make sure I'm not ingesting any toxic GMO corn or GMO soy products inadvertently (with labels not being in English it's a challenge).
