Some of our existence is spend reconstituting loss - it is unconscious most of the time .. some cultures allow and encourage this loss of personal identity where the function and role is more important than the person and in the course the individuality is lost. I am not saying that individuality is always good because it does have nuances of selfishness - it however always should be a balanced approach.
