There’s nothing wrong with being comfortable. There is something wrong with always wanting to be comfortable though. It means that you’re afraid of change. You won’t grow if you’re not willing to be uncomfortable. The goals that you’re trying to attain require this. Some part of you will have to let go and give way. You’ll be glad you did once you realize how much it was holding you back.
Being uncomfortable is how I’ve gotten better as an artist. I’d still be erasing all the time and drawing in pencil if I never broke out of my shell. Now look at me. I’m drawing ink pieces without the use of an initial pencil sketch in some cases. I never thought of this when I was younger. I never saw myself using ink in my artwork. Working with a medium that’s as unforgiving as ink is uncomfortable. I don’t let that stop me though and I don’t think you should let it stop you.
