The flower here is known as the Fragrant Snowbell and I decided to change things up a little and not draw my characters but rather something realistic. The flower symbolizes purity, although, while reading about the flower, I learned about some cultural beliefs/ symbolisms. It’s said that the flower shouldn’t be plucked directly from the tree, and it shouldn’t be brought into one’s home because it could bring in bad luck. It’s a beautiful flower nonetheless : )
Process
I made use of a 0.7 Staedtler mechanical pencil, cretacolor pencils and my Sinoart sketchbook
I started off by drawing the flower, I didn’t get the shading right this time, so I proceeded to draw the girl using a reference. My intention was test whether I could still shade realistic faces. The hair was quite the challenge, as it was super curly, I shaded the hair completely using a 4B pencil, before drawing curvy lines over it with a 6B. & 8B pencil. I like how it all turned out!
