As the title says I would like to spark a discussion about the real world value of creating NFTs of an artists artwork. I really am wondering if this is only about money making and promoting the new technology, if it is a new way to support artists or is it abusing artists to only promote this new technology, seemingly targeted to make up a new ingame market for video games.

What are your opinions on that. I am really ambiguous concerning the topic. I prefer working manually with colors on canvas, making sculptures or stuff like that. Sometimes I work digitally as well, but it is not my preferred medium. As well I created one NFT a few months ago, but somehow it creates a strange feeling selling things like these. I would rather like to sell the piece printed out on canvas, but this is way more difficult in comparison to just create an NFT and sell it directly to the collector, which indeed makes it easier for the collector to have it and to store it, and for me to sell.

Anyhow, as gas fees have risen to an extreme high, it is almost impossible for newcomers without money to create nfts, and as such it once again has built up a market exclusively for money holders, although the creators yet "pay" with their creativity, putting in years of hard work and artistic development. (as well initializing an account on oben sea is way over 100$ at the moment, not an attractive amount)

What do you think about this? Please leave a comment, it would be great to get a sincere conversation about that, as the only opinion on the mainstream is an almost purely optimistic one. Is it the sellout of digital art? Is it a financial bubble created to get money out of pockets of some into the hands of others? Does it have a real value? Will it have a future? Is this just a joke created by a bunch of technocrats to centralize power even more? What is it?

Would be happy to get a discussion about that going.

Greetings
