Allergy or Something Else?
I woke up with huge, red itchy patches on my arm and thighs yesterday morning. It is actually not something that I've never experienced before. The earliest I could remember was when I was in hign school when big patches appeared on my arms and legs then also disappared a couple of hours later.
Last year, I had issues when itchy spots also appear on my skin after taking a shower. It was so weird. I was prescribed some anti-histamines for these but I only took once since it was not something that I could not endure.
Instead, I just became more careful with the food I eat - I avoided fish and eggs as much as I could, had more green smoothies and what not, and practiced intermittent fasting more religiously.
Lemongrass Tea For Cleansing
Coincidentally yesterday, I also came across and article mentioning some of the benefits of lemongrass so I thought, why not try making tea with the lemongrass we have in our little garden?
These lemongrass grew from a single stalk that we planted a few days after Christmas last year. It has grown considerably taller now and have also multiplied in the pot. I use the stalk and leaves for cooking but not really as tea.
This Healthline article enumerated a few benefits of drinking lemongrass tea, antioxidant and diuretic properties among others. I reckon, If I drank lemongrass tea then I would be urinating more and lose those unwanted toxins inside my body that might just cause the rashes.
Tea Time!
For my tea, I just cut a stalk of the lemongrass, I throughly washed it under running water and tied it into a knot. Hmmm! I could already smell that spicy-sweet aroma emanating from the fresh stalk.
Pat on the back for me for tying this nicely and successfully. Last time I tried, the knot opened while cooking. LOL.
I let it boil on the stove top for about 10 minutes and steep for around 5 more. The tea was clear yellow, that I consumed while hot but I think ice-cold would be nice as well.
While not entirely necessary, I opted to add a teaspoon of honey just for a hint of sweetness. I don't know, I normally do not add sweeteners to my coffee or tea but this one just felt it would benefit for bit more flavor.
Thorughout the day, I observed more rashes appear - some big and wide like the one in the top photo, while some are just as wide as a coin. I'd like to blame this to me still eating fish yesterday despite of my rashes. LOL. Fasting for 20 hours, I still woke up with another one on my arm this morning but it has already disappeared as I am typing this at 1pm.
