It's been our nightly habit to read each night before we sleep. However, instead of regular bedtime stories, Little Monster prefers books such as Children's Atlas or anything about stars and planets. There even was a phase when exploring the globe and naming the countries was our bedtime activity.

Recently, Little Monster had a shift of interest and started joining us in writing activities. He loves tracing exercises, coloring and drawing basic shapes. More so, the past couple of weeks, he invites me to study before we sleep and as soon as we wake up in the morning!

Thankfully, I saved my eldest's KG books for writing, reading and math, which had lots of unanswered pages. Since Little Monster is not yet formally enrolled in school (he is 4.5 years old) we use these resources for our "lessons".

Tonight was about primary and secondary colors. Well, it's not that he does not know colors yet, but this activity was more on his writing and reading skills.

He did not show interest in writing until recently, and I did not really force it on him. I waited until he was the one who picked up the pen and started scribbling. Besides, they do say that kids his age do not have fully developed bones for writing.

He colors nicely though, making sure that the object is fully covered.

Another thing I love about him is his focus given to the task. He does not stop until the he is finished. He occasionally gets distracted, but not to the point that he leaves his work undone. There are even several instances that he finishes ahead of his older siblings because while the other two are busy chit-chatting, my Little Monster is continuing with his work.

This past week, he learned how to write his first name. It is ot yet perfect, but he is on the right track.

Line going down, then a bump and a leg! (R), y, lower case l and, and e!

Next goal, to write his second name.

You see, since there are times when Little Miss also does some exercises on the same books. I told Little Monster that if he wants the points to go to him, he needs to write his name.

A few minutes later, he is already laying peacefully on the bed. ❤️
