Turista Conquista

In the summer of 2017 I was fortunate enough to visit the insanity that is Barcelona. It is an old Gothic city forced into the modern world. The modern world that has far to many young people looking for a good time and a place to puke.

I loved Barcelona. But 3 weeks was enough. Amongst the most amazing architecture, food and people, you will find a city with a lot of history and heart. Nevertheless it is highly inundated with an astounding amount of tourists. Including myself. The impression that I get from Barcelona is that it has had enough. You can see it everywhere. In the art the people and the general vibe of the place you feel that the tourism is taking its tole. The “Turista Conquista” is in full effect and the city is losing control over itself.

Once you dare to venture to the far edges of the city you will find something more Authentic

Restaurants that are making what the locals eat and stores for the neighborhoods. It's calmer and gentler on the outskirts of Barcelona.

But once you venture inward again you will have the high contrast of ancient cathedrals and historically important monuments.
