Torture - watercolor on paper

For as long as man has existed on earth, torture has been a practice used indiscriminately. It is a physical and psychological coercion that is inflicted to extract confessions, information or to punish the sufferer. Many times in addition to being a practice with physical action, torture has psychological implications with harassment of all kinds also devastating to the human psyche. Today we hear very often about torture perpetrated against women and men who are deprived of every human right. I am a supporter of Amnesty International and I was struck by the information I read and the testimonies I heard about the latest events in Iran, so I felt the need to portray an image of suffering.

In these last steps I have painted drops of blood coming out of the nose and some wounds on the body.

A hug in the name of the United Nations Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.

Torture - acquarello su carta

Da quando l'uomo esiste sulla terra la tortura è una pratica usata indiscriminatamente. Essa è una coercizione fisica e psicologica che viene inflitta per estorcere confessioni, informazioni o per punire chi la subisce. Molte volte oltre ad essere una pratica con azione fisica, la tortura ha dei risvolti psicologici con vessazioni di ogni tipo anch'essi devastanti per la psiche umana. Oggi sentiamo parlare molto spesso di torture perpetrate ai danni di donne e uomini che vengono privati di ogni diritto umano. Sono un sostenitore di Amnesty International e sono rimasto colpito dalle informazioni che leggo e dalle testimonianze che ho ascoltato sugli ultimi accadimenti in Iran, così ho sentito l'esigenza di raffigurare un'immagine della sofferenza.

In questi ultimi steps ho dipinto delle gocce di sangue che escono dal naso e alcune ferite sul corpo.

Un abbraccio nel nome della Convenzione contro la tortura.
