Lights on Rome - watercolours on paper

Hello everyone Hivers welcome back to my blog. As is customary with artists, I too often go on tours to find subjects to paint live. Having the sights of the Eternal City very close by, I take the train and go to Rome to paint. The Imperial Fora area offers hundreds of possible views to depict. Personally, I do not paint the usual subjects, such as the Colosseum or the arches of Augustus and Titus, because there are thousands of tourists, but I look for secluded corners and above all in the shade, considering how hot it is and that watercolours dry very quickly.

So I found this wonderful characteristic corner of which I took some photos, because they might interest me for other watercolours to paint.

The subject I chose was an ancient gateway with Roman walls and a lot of vegetation, I started the base with the first layers of colour.

I then painted the sky, the walls and the shadows cast by the sun on the floor and object

Luci su Roma - acquarelli su carta

Ciao a tutti cari amici Hivers bentornati sul mio blog. Come è d'uso dagli artisti, anch'io spesso vado a fare dei giri per trovare dei soggetti da dipingere dal vivo. Avendo le bellezze della città eterna molto vicine prendo il treno e vado a Roma a dipingere. La zona dei Fori Imperiali offre centinaia di scorci possibili da rappresentare, personalmente non ritraggo i soliti soggetti, come il Colosseo o gli archi di Augurto e Tito, perchè ci sono migliaia di turisti, ma cerco degli angoli appartati e soprattutto all'ombra, considerato il caldo che fa e che gli acquarelli si asciugano molto rapidamente. Così ho trovato questo meraviglioso angolo caratteristico del quale ho scattato alcune foto, perchè potrebbero interessarmi per altri acquarelli da dipingere. Il soggetto che ho scelto è un portone antico con mura romane e molta vegetazione, ho iniziato la base con le prime stesure di colore. Successivamente ho dipinnto il cielo, le mura e le ombre proiettate dal sole sul pavimento e sugli oggetti. Questo è il risultato finale e spero vi piaccia, vi mando un caro saluto a tutti.
