Funeral rite - watercolours on paper

Hello everyone Hivers and welcome back to my blog. Today I am sharing a rather unusual watercolour painting where I wanted to highlight the idea of a mysterious funeral rite. The subject depicts a woman lying on an altar-tomb that will perhaps welcome her corpse. In the painting I also left the possibility that the body could be burnt on the stone altar. On the right I have depicted the disturbing figure of the priest performing the rite. Behind the altar, in the background, figures in backlighting are waving. Personally, at my death I would like to be cremated, and my ashes scattered in the sea.

Rito funebre - acquarelli su carta

Ciao a tutti cari amici Hivers e bentornati sul mio blog. Oggi condivido un dipinto ad acquarello piuttosto inusuale dove ho voluto mettere in evidenza l'idea di un rito funebre misterioso. Il soggetto rappresenta una donna stesa su un altare-tomba che forse accoglierà la sua salma. Nel dipinto ho lasciato anche la possibilità che il corpo potrebbe essere arso sull'altare in pietra. A destra ho rappresentato l'inquietante figura del sacerdote che compie il rito. Dietro l'altare, sullo sfondo delle figura in controluce che si agitano. Personalmente, alla mia morte vorrò essere cremato, e le mie ceneri disperse nel mare.
