I have a big fear on the transition to a cashless society in my country as well, Sweden. In most of the stores we do not even have an option anymore to pay with cash, which is infuriating. Only stores that sell "essential" products, such as supermarkets and drugstores have the obligation to accept cash.

Sweden was in the process of becoming fully cashless but is slowly backing down from that decision due to the military tensions with Rusia. As you said, there are many unforeseen negative effects with going fully cashless. In this case, Sweden was afraid that a potential war could shut down the payment systems, rendering useless all the credit cards or online payment methods.

I don't understand the need to go fully cashless bit I suspect more control from our governments. Why can't we just live in an environment where both paying mechanisms co-exist?
