It warms my heart to see Dragon Age lore being discussed. I really loved Dragon Age: Origins, and the Fade is one of the main reasons why I loved starting as a (human) mage.

I unfortunately haven't gotten a chance to play Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition, do those games expand on the Fade in meaningful ways?
