A very basic 'jump rope roguelike' mostly carried by all the love that was put into the art and animation. It shows a lot of promise, but I think it could use expanding upon.
What I like:
The character design and animations are extremely charming. It's clearly the developer's strong suit.
Experimenting with the idea of a jump rope roguelike is very fun; brings the formula down to its most basic form.
It can get pretty fun and hectic once you've got multiple jump ropes.
The sound effects are nice and punchy.
What I'd like to see now:
A sense of progression. This is very important to roguelikes. Most of the upgrades aren't permanent and the others aren't really "visible." As a result, you can be in the same situation doing the same thing 0, 500 or 2000 jumps in. The character and background don't change either. Any kind of visible progress would add a lot; for example, time progressing, Scarlet changing or reacting in some way, music fading in and becoming more intense, more birds crowding around. Maybe there could be more visual representations for the upgrades. There's a million ways to do it.
Some readability fixes. This one might be down to me being old, but I thought there were a few readability issues here and there. When you acquire a new rope, Scarlet starts to blink and you can easily lose your new rope if you're not alert. Also, when I increased my jump height a few times, the way the rope moved under Scarlet as she jumped got a bit strange (dragging across the floor in mid-air).
What could be cool in the future:
Possibly more characters with unique traits. Roguelikes are all about replayability after all.
More story with Scarlet. She really steals the show and I'd like to at least see a good ending for her or something like that.
That's about it for my thoughts. I think there's great potential here and I'm always up for supporting indie devs making this sort of project. :)
