Well,for me understanding our culture plays a vital impact on our society. Understanding our culture is not just about knowing but also practicing.
Good day everyone, it's me again Khesia, another day another blog. For today I will be sharing with you my experience in visiting a museum which enhances my understanding about our locality and culture. So what are you for? Let's start.
One afternoon we didn't have a class after 2:30. So my friends and I decided to go for a walk in the plaza. That time it was so hot. After a while we noticed that the museum was open. One of us said that she hasn't been in our museum in Naga. Another friend said that it is open today for public. Then all of us happily agreed that we should visit the museum.
For a while the staff of the museum greets us. She told us that umbrellas are not allowed so we leave them outside. Then she told us that if we are able to visit the museum. And we told her it was our first time to be there. Then she introduced us to the first room where we saw the locality of Naga with its 28 barangays. It's like a representation of each barangays. Also the room is full of different rocks that have been discovered in Naga.
We also saw the representation of the train in Naga which was used for transportation etc. in that old era. Moreover, we also saw different leaves, its uses and scientific names. After that we explored the next room. It is filled with a human-like form of people in barangay colon making a pot.
In the past barangay colon was famous in making pots and many more products to be sold. We also saw the different dresses and clothes used in the past. The barot’ saya, filipinana and many more to mention. Then we also saw old jars that Nagahanons used to store their water for drinking. I experienced drinking in a jar in Argao, my father's sister's place. The water is so cold because of the jar.
In the next room we saw the history of Naga from the different mayors to the writings and the books of the law newspaper at that time. It symbolizes how Naganano's took care of their things that up until now we saw. It was a century ago. But now in the modernized era we still got the chance to see how they lived in the past.
Our ancestors become a part of ourselves today without them we are not here. We should not forget all the things that they did for us. That we should also be grateful to them for all the things they have done for us. We should also respect all their practices and beliefs. But we know some of it is not necessary but we should show respect to it.
As a gen z it is important to learn about our culture because it affects who we are inside. Where we came from. That we should be proud of our culture. That if ever we encounter different races we can show our uniqueness. Our qualities that we embody. We should show that we are loud and proud to show our culture to them that we should never forget where we came from.
On the other hand the last part of the museum was the digitalized era. Where it has the computer and different books. Shall I say it is a museum slash library.They have a lot of books there. And I also think about some published research. The caretaker of the museum told us that it was free to use. But with their guidance.
After that we wrote our names to the attendance and I was shocked that we are the only visitors that they have.
