My Youtube Tabletop Gaming Channel Is Slowly Growing
As you know, I opened a youtube channel and my biggest motivation for opening the channel was to create content for the Dungeons and Dragons game in my country and to invite and encourage new people to this game.
There are not many followers of tabletop role-playing games. The most crowded discord I found is 5 thousand people. If we say there are some more people who are not on discord, it's like 10 thousand people. So, as you can guess, my chances of making money from this business are close to zero. Even this post can earn more than my entire youtube channel.
But that wasn't my main goal in starting this channel. My main goal was to show people how enjoyable dnd and other tabletop games are. To do that, I started with Curse of Strahd, the game I know best. I plan to finish the Dungeon Master's Guide in 6 months, I hope I can do it. For now, let's look at the analysis together.
Not a lot of views for the First Month
It's only been a month since I started the channel. Fifty subscribers in a month is not an achievement. I know that very clearly, but I'm going to keep doing it anyway, because this game is really dear to me and it's a hobby that I love very much. My biggest hope is to introduce this hobby to new people. To show that playing Dungeons and dragons develops friendship bonds in tabletop games. For this, it is necessary to train DMs. That's why I started with a DM guide for the Curse of Strahd series. I've played this game start to finish, twice before. And that's why I think I'm qualified to make informative - guide videos.
My Next Plans
My next plans are to make some generic help videos. Because when I make module-specific videos, only people who can dungeon master that module come and watch them. And not everyone wants to be a DM. Therefore, my next plan is as follows:
Player's Guide: In these guides, I want to tell something especially for players who are new to the game. I will explain that the game is actually not difficult and that all you need to learn is to start the game and have friends you can have fun with. I will even give directions and suggestions for making these friends over the internet.
D&D Character Creation Guide: I did one of my videos like this, I talked about the barbarian and the feedback wasn't bad. They wanted me to make it a little slower. I plan to continue in this direction and make good reviews and suggestions for character creation.
Tips for Dungeon Masters: Being a DM is not a hard job. It just requires a little preparation. I will make videos for this. How to prepare, what rules to pay attention to, etc.
D&D Monster Guide: One of the biggest challenges of being a DM is playing creatures. Thinking about what characteristics they have and managing them. War is really not easy. You need to make creature tactics for this.
D&D Battle Strategies: This time I want to talk about battle strategies for players, so they can share these videos with their friends and be more successful in their next battle. Let's see. There are so many classes and so many combinations. I hope it won't be too long.
A Guide to Creating Impressive NPC (Non-Player Character) for Dungeon Masters: I'm thinking of making some PDF books for these, so I think I can sell these books on etsy. After all, I'm currently unemployed. I have time for this.
D&D Spells Guide: Spells are very important, especially for spellcaster classes. Instead of reading the best spells one by one, I think I can make a video and explain a few spells.
D&D Roleplaying Tips: I want to shoot some interview-like videos on RP with some of my friends, so I invited them over to my house to shoot them, and we'll see how it goes. We actually shared another video about this as a suggestion. So far the feedback is good.
Let's see if I can show people that tabletop games are good... Youtube is a hobby for me, not a job, but it makes you happy when you see comments. It also makes me happy that Dungeon Masters who write on discord say that the videos are useful. I hope I can create an opportunity to show everyone that Dungeons and Dragons is a beautiful game. Thank you very much for reading!
