It seems like a pretty good idea if no other technologies are found.
As steem-buzz posted graphene technology may be the future.
It requires little atom thin pieces of graphene to hold a huge amount of power as well as to charge in seconds.
I don't know how quickly this will be mass produced but it could be a contender in the markets @davidp
