Since my childhood days I have wondered why elders discriminate being offered things with the left hand. It's becomes so baffling to me this days(days of civilization) when I even see young people reject to receive something offered to them with left hand.
Well, in this part of the world (Nigeria) where I was born, it is the morals inculcated in us. Right hand means respect while left means disrespect hence the reason we eat with the right hand and the same reason while most left-handed persons (leftists as the are commonly referred to in my home country) are forced to use their right hands, but gradually, people are getting to understand that some persons were born "leftists".
In Yoruba land, it is a taboo to give an elder something with a left hand anyway. It is part of us, it is our culture.
Now, it leaves me wandering if our left hands isn't as valuable as our right hands? I wonder if someone born as a left handed person would be of less value for that? Is his right not as valuable as his left and vice versa.
Why all this discrimination and unnecessary sentiments, why the rejections and belittling of our left hands?
In my thought every body part is important and useful, the right hand is as good as the left hand and vice versa.
It will gladden my heart if I could get a few person say more about this.
