There are endless worlds to explore with a macro lens. Here's a shot of a tiny moss formation on the bark of a living tree. This is so tiny that I didn't even notice the little vertical sprout until I started looking through the viewfinder. I was looking for an interesting composition in the landscape of the bark, and took a few shots of this mossy bump. Then I noticed the sprout, and tried to make it the subject of the image.
